This was a project that kind of came out of the blue. In fact, until quite near the end when I started having to sign documents from Dreamworks, I didn’t have a clue it was for a Need For Speed movie!
Initially, the composer, Nathan Furst, contacted me asking for some analogue style synth sounds. He was looking to do a modern action film score but with some retro edges to it. I think he nailed it. As well as my synth sounds, there are some really lovely guitar tones that you don’t get so much in big screen movie soundtracks these days.
I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful it was to watch a Hollywood movie at my local cinema and for the only musical sound to be coming out of the huge sound system to be one of my synth patches. An amazing experience. The icing on the cake being to see my name in the credits at the end of the film.
I will always treasure that moment.
